On behalf of the Child & Community Resources (CCR) Board of Directors and staff team, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of support for our families in the north region. Thank you to parents, the media and partners throughout the province for acknowledging the stress, isolation and other challenges that our families experience when trying to access the services that they need.
We are hopeful that the Provincial Advisory Committee and Minister Todd Smith acknowledge the importance of maintaining infrastructure in Northern Ontario and provide us with the sustainability funding required to ensure families in the North are not left behind.
Although CCR has experienced significant loss we are ready to do everything we can to maintain our small dedicated team. Thanks to our families we are inspired and ready to rebuild if given the opportunity. We continue to submit new and innovative approaches to MCCSS to ensure families have access to quality service and the talent remains in the North.
We also hope to hear about the federal government’s commitment to a National Autism Strategy. We need the provincial and federal governments working together for families in the North. We hope that parents and professionals in Northern Ontario are engaged in defining this important work. The strategy must be inclusive of our unique language, culture, geographical and professional capacity needs.
As we anxiously await the recommendations from the Advisory Panel, we remain steadfast in our commitment to proactive communication with our families and to help ensure that families in the North receive the service that they deserve.
With respect and gratitude,
Sherry Fournier
