Caregiver coaching sessions will allow parents to work with the Ignite’s BCBA for up to 3 hours, over the course of four weeks. The Post Diagnostic Clinic service is a 12-week program. Caregivers attend 3 workshops and in the interim of each workshop attend a 1:1 consultation with a member of our clinical team (in-person and/or via telehealth) and a consultation check-in the following week. The aim of this service is to help caregivers learn to implement strategies with their child. Skill building goals for consultation sessions can include: language, imitation, play, communication. Consultation sessions are approximately 45-minutes in length and consultation check-in sessions are approximately 30-minutes in length. Workshop one provides an introduction to services for a child with a diagnosis and a review of what is Applied Behaviour Analysis. Workshop two introduces caregivers to the basics of teaching their child communication, increasing play skills, and teaching imitation skills. The final workshop covers ABA strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines to increase appropriate behaviour.
