Learning to cooperate and see other’s perspectives can be challenging and, at times, uncomfortable for children. How do we develop these skills while keeping the experience positive? Northern Outreach and Clinical Services in collaboration with Science North will offer an afterschool. program with the focus of building social skills. The focus of this group will be to provide children with the opportunity to build on their social skills as it relates to working cooperatively with others. Through the develop a series of hands-on STEM activities participants will work on a variety of social skills (e.g., conversational, negotiation, perspective-taking etc.) throughout the group sessions and apply the skills to working on a larger project to be presented in the last session. The group will include a general lesson, opportunity for role-play and practice with peers/facilitator(s) and application to natural opportunities during scheduled activities. This group will take place in collaboration with Science North!
