Early Learning and Child Care Services

What are Early Learning and Child Care Services?

Early Learning and Child Care is a publically funded service that involves our highly trained and skilled Early Learning and Inclusion Consultants working directly with professionals in childcare environments to support the needs of children and youth.  It is our goal to maximize the potential of each child, and to support their inclusion in the childcare environment.

We offer a wide range of services and supports through our Early Learning and Child Care Services, including:

Leadership Teams

We work directly with the leaders of licensed childcare programs to create work plans for their site, to ensure the delivery of quality programming for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or special needs.  These plans highlight the services, supports, goals and professional development recommended to ensure high quality programming.

Consultation Days

Consultation days involve bringing childcare professionals together to share our expertise related to developmental screening and early identification, entry planning and wait list transition for new children, group and child-specific services, and to build the knowledge of childcare professionals working with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or special needs.

Behavioural Consultations

Behavioural consultations enhance the knowledge of childcare professionals, so they can use applied behaviour analysis-based strategies with the children and youth in their care.  One of our highly trained and skilled Early Learning and Inclusion Consultants work directly with childcare professionals to help them build child-specific plans to ensure effective and focused services for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or special needs.

We value strong, collaborative relationships, which is why we work closely with professionals, caregivers, and community partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for each and every child.

Professional Development

We offer a range of workshops and training to childcare professionals that focus on topics such as applied behaviour analysis, special needs and inclusion.

Transition to School

Through our transition to school services, we assist childcare programs and caregivers with a child who has special needs, transition from preschool services to the educational system. The intent of the team is to collaborate with school boards in the best interest of the child in order to provide an organized and planned entry.
